About Us
Karen became interested in baking from her Grandmamma Jones. Karen was self-taught and initially gained popularity with her cakes from their yummy taste and her artistic ability to draw anything. Her cakes were like magic- she could bring anything to life. She soon mastered three-dimensional cakes & wedding cakes. It did not take long before she was affectionately known as ‘The Cake Lady' in the middle Georgia area.

We love and miss her everyday.
As a graduate of Macon State with an Associate of Art
and a Bachelor of Science, Amanda would soon discover her niche that would combine her true loves- art and science. In 2005, her apprenticeship as a baker and cake decorator began. Little did she know that her apprenticeship would finally answer a dated question, ‘What will she be when she grows up?’
Amanda's Cakery is an established bakery located in Historic Downtown Macon, Georgia that is licensed, insured, ServSafe certified, and health inspected by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Each day Amanda and her staff bake a variety of cupcake flavors made from the freshest ingredients, from scratch to sell in the cakery storefront. Their specialty is creating wedding cakes and custom cakes for any occasion.  Unlike most cake decorators, Amanda does not cover her cakes using fondant. Instead, they have a secret technique that makes our butter cream icing look as smooth as fondant, which distinguishes us from the rest.

'It is really rewarding knowing I was an important part in making the wedding day special for the bride & the groom... and all the guests who enjoyed eating the cake.'                      ~Amanda

Amanda responded to the ad titled ‘baker’s assistant.' She was told it had been filled. Yet, she was persistent, and said to Karen, “I’ll bake you a cake!” The truth was that baking was rare for her; Amanda desrcibed her recipes consisted of ingredients and mistakes, and said she had  no idea how to use a mixer, and her first day baking, the mixer nearly shook off the counter. Karen laughed and nudged her with her elbow. Eventually, Amanda unexpectedly accomplished the first of many wedding cakes. Her newfound calling would prove to be a bitter, sweet journey to her success.
Having only baked and decorated cakes for a year and a half, In 2007, Amanda became the operator and cake decorator for Karen's business when she passed. Amanda suffered an additional loss in May 2010 when the bakery caught fire leaving nothing except a few pans and cake stands. With five wedding cakes and tons of birthday cake orders to complete that week, with the help of friends, family and the community, they successfully accomplished them all. The day after the fire, the book of wedding contracts were uncovered, yet soaked, Amanda spreaded the sheets of wedding contracts throughout her home until they dried, rewrote them, and fulfilled every cake order.

Soon after the fire, she decided it was time to acheive one of her fondest dreams- to open her own bakery and in May 2010 she did.
