About

Hi there, I'm Amanda and I'd love to share my story with you. In 2005, I responded to an ad 'baker’s assistant' Karen Holleman Cakes had posted & was told it had been filled. I was persistent, and told Karen, “I’ll bake you a cake!” The truth was baking was very rare for me. In the beginning, my recipes consisted of ingredients and lots of mistakes. I had no idea how to use a mixer, and on my first day baking, the mixer nearly shook off the counter. Karen laughed and nudged me with her elbow. Eventually, I unexpectedly accomplished the first of many wedding cakes. My newfound calling would prove to be a bitter, sweet journey to my success.
Having only baked and decorated cakes for a year and a half, In 2007, I became the operator and cake decorator for Karen's business when she passed. In May 2010, I suffered an additional loss when the bakery caught fire leaving nothing except a few cake pans and cake stands. With five wedding cake orders to complete that week, with the help of friends, family and the community, we made them all! Soon after the fire, I decided it was time to open my own bakery and in May 2010 I did.

In loving memory of Karen Holleman

Karen became interested in baking from her Grandmamma Jones. Karen was self-taught and initially gained popularity with her cakes for their yummy taste and her artistic ability to draw anything. Her cakes were like magic- she could bring anything to life. She soon mastered three-dimensional cakes & wedding cakes. It did not take long before she was affectionately known as ‘The Cake Lady' in the middle Georgia area. We love and miss her everyday.
